Abstract

This action research aims to develop a Modified Video-Assisted Discussion (MVAD) in response to the low interest of students in Grade 10 of CMU Laboratory High School in the Filipino subject. A Mixed Method was used in data collection because both quantitative and qualitative designs were applied in interpreting the collected numerical and descriptive data. Convenience sampling was used to select respondents based on who would be available. Of the 115 total population of grade 10, only 85 responded to the first survey while 79 responded to the second survey. It was found out that the Posted Video-Assisted Discussion (PVAD) became the main problem of the students because it was boring that’s why they are not interested to watch. MVAD served as a response to the low interest of students in grade 10. MVAD was effective because it captured student attention, increased interest in the Filipino subject, and had effective interaction and active participation during the virtual space discussion.
