The primary objective of this study is to elucidate the core ritual of the Talaandig tribe. It also aims to elucidate the beliefs, customs, and how the tribe values their ritual terminologies. The study ensures to answer the following questions: 1. What is Pangapug ritual of the Talaandig tribe in Lantapan, Bukidnon? 2. What ritual terms are embedded in the ritual? and 3. What beliefs and customs are reflected therein? The primary research method used in the study is a qualitative design under descriptive research. Ethnographic methods were also employed in the research since the researcher visited the location of the study many times to personally interact and converse with five (5) informants. The researcher also actively participated in the tribe's ritual. Subsequently, interviews and focus group discussions were conducted to gain a deeper understanding and provide a clear interpretation of the data. The study reveals that the core ritual is performed prior to the execution of other rituals, especially the tribe's major ones. It was also discovered that numerous ritual terminologies carry meanings and symbols used in performing the core ritual. Embedded within these ritual terminologies are beliefs and customs. Based on the findings, it has been established that the Talaandig tribe's ritual terminology is rich, reflecting their rituals. They have a ritual that is conducted before any activity as a form of homage to the spirits that guard everything in their environment. The language of their ritual binds and unifies the tribe towards a common purpose and goal, as well as for the welfare of the entire community. This tradition is uniquely theirs, untainted by Western influence, as they uphold their customs and beliefs embedded in the language of their ritual. Due to the richness of cultural terminologies in the core ritual, it is recommended to conduct further research on other rituals of the Talaandig tribe and indigenous groups in the Philippines. An analysis of their ritual language can also be undertaken to identify the beliefs and customs embedded within it. Through this, the tribe can be better known, understood, and appreciated.
